We are still waiting on Digidesign and Leopard compatibility February 28, 2008

EDIT: Pro Tools is fully compatible with Leopard.  Click here for details.

For those of you still waiting for Leopard and Digidesign Pro Tools to be compatible, hopefully the wait will not be much longer…

Users are having the most success on Leopard 10.5.1 with Pro Tools 7.4cs2. Some people are running 10.5 or 10.5.2 with success, but for the most part, if you have to run your Pro Tools rig in Leopard, I would suggest 10.5.1. Supposedly the update is coming soon…

These are two statements made by Digidesign tech support on the DUC forums over the last week:

Leopard compatibility for LE products is scheduled to be a no cost dot release update to PT 7.4. that you will be able to download from our website.”

If it’s LE – the release is coming soon, we just have a few more issues that need to be worked out….”

Honestly, from my perspective, the delay in this release is not really Digidesign’s fault. Leopard has a lot of bugs in it. Couple that with the new multi-core processors, heat issues, and the stream demands that Pro Tools puts on a machine (to allow very high quality audio without any dropped samples) and this becomes a very complex issue. Keep being patient, I’m sure Digidesign will get this release out as soon as humanly possible. The one good thing, is that Digidesign makes sure their releases are 100% stable and ready before they release them, so it should work very well.

See our other recent articles pertaining to issues (and also issues with Logic Studio and Leopard, both 10.5.1 and 10.5.2):

Hang in there! Should be soon…

If you need help getting your Logic or Pro Tools setup working (especially on a Leopard machine), post in the comments here, or send me an email.
