Pro Tools and Leopard (a clarification) November 20, 2008

Posted by ConnorSmith in : Digidesign, Leopard, Pro Tools , trackback

I’ve noticed a lot of people running into our site when searching for PT and Leopard compatibility info.

The articles that you may be seeing were posted a few months ago when things were still up in the air.

Pro Tools 8 is fully compatible with Leopard. Click here for more information

Right now, Pro Tools LE 7.4.2 is qualified to work with Leopard 10.5.4 (although many are using with 10.5.5 with few problems).

If you have any questions concerning this, or are having trouble getting your setup to work, let us know in the comments.

I’m running Leopard 10.5.7 with PT M-Powered 7.4.2 and cannot figure out why I am not able to get any audio playback through my internal computer speakers.

What do you have things set on in Audio Midi Setup? (in the Mac OS)

3. Chris - May 19, 2009

Default Input is set to M-Audio Fast Track Pro, and my Default and System outputs are set to Built-in Output

If your M-Audio unit is unplugged, can you get sound out of your computer speakers?

5. Chris - May 19, 2009

yes, and I can still get audio from my computer speakers from my iTunes with my M-Audio unit plugged in

Oh – I misunderstood the question originally.

You can’t play Pro Tools back through anything except your Pro Tools interface.

7. Chris - May 20, 2009

No I think you understood the original question. The only speakers I have are my computer speakers. When I am working on an audio file in Pro Tools, I can’t get any audio to play at all.

You can’t play Pro Tools audio through your computer speakers.

You can only produce audio through your qualified interface. Therefore, you can only listen back through headphones or monitors connected to that interface.

@Mista Johnson

I’d start by trashing your preferences+databases, but read this post -
