Keyboard Focus mode is an obvious example of this (where each key on the keyboard is a hotkey for a task, eliminating the need for modifier keys). In a sort of slightly random method, I am going to run through some of my most-used commands and give some suggestions on when to use them. Music Production Toolkit 2 (MPTK 2) Authorization Problem!! December 18, 2008

Apparently when you try to install it, it surrenders your old MPTK license, but the MPTK 2 version doesn’t properly authorize, so all you are left with is a non-MPTK Pro Tools…
I know big software releases are a huge deal for companies like Digidesign, and they have a lot of things to worry about, but considering how happy people were about the MPTK 2 upgrade, you’d think someone would have actually tried to download and authorize the MPTK 2 before releasing it the public.
As far as I’ve heard, no one has gotten it authorized…
EDIT: More bad news… digidesign.com seems it couldn’t handle the downloads and traffic, so its down… A seemingly buggy PT8, an MPTK 2 that doesn’t work, and a downed website…. uh oh Digi! I hope they can turn this one around….

and it seems that Sweetwater has PT 8 in stock?? I can’t say for sure if this is correct, but it is on their site. I had pre-ordered mine awhile back, so if I get a shipping notification tomorrow, I will be sure to let everyone know.
I don’t know if its related, but I got a non-auto email from someone at Sweetwater about something else, but it was fairly late at night for them. Perhaps everyone is staying late to pack up the version?? (well, I doubt it, but I really hope it ships soon)

Pro Tools version 8 (LE, HD, and M-Powered) is set to be released in 9 days. Be sure to check back to thestudiofiles.com within a few days of the release for the latest info and tutorials (and of course, if there are bugs, learn how to fix them here… but hopefully it won’t come to that)

Posted by ConnorSmith in : Digidesign, Pro Tools , add a commentJust thought I’d add that I called Sweetwater today to pre-order Pro Tools 8, but found out that the upgrade fro the Music Production Toolkit to the MPTK 2 ($50) isn’t available through the normal retailers. That will be obtainable once you register Pro Tools 8 through your Digidesign account (on Digidesign.com).
