Posted by ConnorSmith in : Digidesign, Leopard, Pro Tools , trackbackDigidesign has said numerous times (both tech support people and administrators) that the Leopard compatible Pro Tools LE update will be coming “by the end of May”. As of a few days ago, they suggested that they were on spot to hit that target.We’ve been waiting forever…
Hopefully not much longer. I still think they are waiting on the release of Leopard 10.5.3, as 10.5.2 was chock full of problems in Core Audio.

I wouldn’t get your hopes too high… they’ve given us plenty of these “it’s coming out soon!!” messages before…

Yeah… I have a few emails from January from Digidesign saying “we are really close, probably 1-2 weeks”…
Since PTLE doesn’t use CoreAudio, I disagree with your assumption.
10.5.3 will probably be required for the new PT, but it’s not because of the CoreAudio issues, it’s because of other bugs in the OS.
Weatherman:
Do you really think that Apple has coded a wholly different audio path that PT somehow has access to? PT makes CoreAudio unavailable–but it has to use most of the same engine. The fact that it is proprietary (that is, it doesn’t “play nice” with other CoreAudio functionality) is certainly part, if not most of the problem.

^^ Yeah, its additionally complicated to get the realtime streaming audio that pro tools uses to play nice with the new multi-core processors.
I didn’t mean to imply that the only hold up was CoreAudio, just that it is a large factor.
Also, Digidesign has said they are releasing the stand alone Core Audio driver along with the Pro Tools update, so if either one is held up, we wait on the other.
