Digidesign Pro Tools LE and Apple Leopard: The light at the end of the tunnel? April 1, 2008
Posted by ConnorSmith in : Apple, Digidesign, Leopard , trackbackAs I said in my last post… it’s April, and yet we still wait.
There’s hope! Apple just released the second testing build of 10.5.3 today (the second one in less than a week). Also, this update is supposed to fix some core audio errors. Sounds promising to me. Digidesign has hinted that they needed to wait for the next version (after 10.5.2) of Leopard to make Pro Tools LE compatible
Be ready with some hard drive space though, this Leopard 10.5.3 update is going to be about half a gig… (some say its already over 400MB)
Also, I got an email today (and thanks to Jeff C. for the reminder!!) from Amplitube. It said that their new product line (Amplitube 2 Duo) is coming out soon. It also said that the demo will be shipping with the upcoming Pro Tools ignition pack, and will be compatible with all operating systems. Indeed. I think this is good news.
So Digidesign’s Pro Tools LE should be compatible with Leopard sometime in April or early May. We have had some luck with Pro Tools in 10.5.1, but less so in 10.5.2.

Jeez, I’ve had no luck with leopard and protools!! Have a shiny brand new Macbook Pro which I’m just using for frickin’ nothin’ right now. I really hope there is a light at the end of the digidesign blackhole! i’ll stay tuned!
Yeah, latest announcement from Digi (a few days ago) said they’d have news in a week or two… keep on waiting…
Have you tried 10.5.1? That seems to work for most people. If you post your system specs, we can probably find a working setup for you.
Yeah? that’d be great. i’ve got a macbook pro, 10.5.1, 1.83 GHz Intel Core Duo, 2 GB 667 MHz DDR2 SDRAM. I’m using a 002 but haven’t got 7.4. Still on 6.9.4. Guess I need to upgrade.
Many thanks for the reply
Andy
Yeah 7.4cs2 should give you some luck. Most people are having the most luck with 7.4 (and usually with cs2)
Many thanks Conor, I’ll order a copy of PT& ASAP in that case. Meanwhile I’ll wait with baited breath for Digidesign’s news!!!
