^^ Yeah, its additionally complicated to get the realtime streaming audio that pro tools uses to play nice with the new multi-core processors.

I didn’t mean to imply that the only hold up was CoreAudio, just that it is a large factor.

Also, Digidesign has said they are releasing the stand alone Core Audio driver along with the Pro Tools update, so if either one is held up, we wait on the other.

Do you really think that Apple has coded a wholly different audio path that PT somehow has access to? PT makes CoreAudio unavailable–but it has to use most of the same engine. The fact that it is proprietary (that is, it doesn’t “play nice” with other CoreAudio functionality) is certainly part, if not most of the problem.

Since PTLE doesn’t use CoreAudio, I disagree with your assumption.

10.5.3 will probably be required for the new PT, but it’s not because of the CoreAudio issues, it’s because of other bugs in the OS.
